What are terpenes?

Terpenes are a non cannabinoid chemical compound found in marijuana. They are responsible for the aroma of the cannabis plant. Over 100 different types of terpenes have been detected resulting in a variety of different strains with varying aromas. Earthy, spicy, woody, fruity, floral and herbal are the most common characteristics of these terpenes.
