Decarboxylation is the process in which THCA and CBDA are converted into THC and CBD.

All cannabis, regardless of how you intend to consume it, needs to be decarboxylated to activate its psychoactive properties. If you consume non-decarboxylated cannabis, you will not get high.

The cannabis flower must be heated to a temperature of 220 to 240 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes to convert the THCA to THC. If you don’t heat the cannabis long enough, the conversion won’t happen, however, heating it for too long will destroy the psychoactive compounds.

There are two main ways to decarboxylate weed, in the oven or with a speciality product such as the Levo II.
